We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. | So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. |
I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living. | I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. |
And said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. Who are you who judge another’s servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand. | Who are you to pass judgment on servants of another? It is before their own lord that they stand or fall. And they will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make them stand. |
For with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. | For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. |
Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth. | Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth. |
But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. | But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. |
But he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked. | But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded. |
For Christ is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. | For Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. |
Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. | Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to confirm your call and election, for if you do this, you will never stumble. Whom, not having known, you love. In him, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. | Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy, for you are receiving the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. |
He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. | No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. |
Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. | Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. |
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says Yahweh of Armies, “if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be enough room for.” | Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing. |
For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ. | For just as the sufferings of Christ are abundant for us, so also our consolation is abundant through Christ. |
I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth. | I lift up my eyes to the hills— from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. |
I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. | So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. |
For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening, he shall have whatever he says. | Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and if you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you. |
But now, being made free from sin and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification and the result of eternal life. | But now that you have been freed from sin and enslaved to God, the advantage you get is sanctification. The end is eternal life. |
One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. | Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God's wrath. |
For the love of Christ compels us; because we judge thus: that one died for all, therefore all died. He died for all, that those who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who for their sakes died and rose again. | For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them. |
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you.
