- Listen, my son, and accept my sayings,
And the years of your life will be many. - Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will name Him Immanuel.
- Who, as He already existed in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied Himself by taking the form of a bond-servant and being born in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death: death on a cross.
- So you are to know in your heart that the Lord your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.
- Now all this took place so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled: “Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they shall name Him Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”
- My son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord
Or loathe His rebuke,
For whom the Lord loves He disciplines,
Just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights. - While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
- You shall not oppress any widow or orphan. If you oppress him at all, and if he does cry out to Me, I will assuredly hear his cry; and My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.
- My son, pay attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
They are not to escape from your sight;
Keep them in the midst of your heart. - My son, do not forget my teaching,
But have your heart comply with my commandments;
For length of days and years of life
And peace they will add to you. - My son, comply with the commandment of your father,
And do not ignore the teaching of your mother. - No one has seen God at any time; God the only Son, who is in the arms of the Father, He has explained Him.
- By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
And by the breath of His mouth all their lights. - Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.
- By this the love of God was revealed in us, that God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him.
- The one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
- For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.
- The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
- As he came naked from his mother’s womb, so he will return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand.
- And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
- “And they will be Mine,” says the Lord of armies, “on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will have compassion for them just as a man has compassion for his own son who serves him.”
- How blessed is he whose wrongdoing is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered! - Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
- For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
- For the Lord is our judge,
The Lord is our lawgiver,
The Lord is our king;
He will save us.
