Cometh (3/4)

  • “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “the one who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
  • Come to your senses and sin no more. For some of you have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
  • Go and learn what this text means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
  • For since death came into the world through a man, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a man.
  • On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried out,
    “If anyone is thirsty,
let him come to me and drink.”
  • Be on guard against false prophets who come to you disguised in sheep’s clothing, but who inwardly are ravenous wolves.
  • In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served but rather to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • Jesus answered him,
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him
and make our abode with him.”
  • Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.”
  • I do not set aside the grace of God, for if justification comes through the Law, then Christ died for nothing.
  • We have come to know
    and to believe in
the love that God has for us.
    God is love,
    and whoever abides in love
    abides in God,
    and God in him.
  • But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them. For it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
  • This is how you should pray:
    ‘Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name.
    Your kingdom come.
    Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.’
  • It was for this purpose that he called you through our gospel so that you might come to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • All I want is to come to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and to share in his sufferings by becoming conformed to his death.
  • But I with hymns of praise
    will offer sacrifice to you.
What I have vowed I will fulfill.
    Salvation comes from the Lord.
  • You intended to do evil to me, but God decided to make it serve a good, to fulfill that which today has come true: to keep alive a numerous people.
  • He brought you low, allowing you to suffer from hunger. He then fed you with manna, something with which your fathers were not familiar, so that you might come to know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Lord.
  • Wait quietly for the Lord
and be patient until he comes.
Do not fret over the man who prospers
    because of his evil schemes.
  • Jesus answered, “As it is written:
‘Man does not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.’ ”
  • Remember your Creator in the days of your youth
    before the bad times come
and the years draw near when you will say,
“I take no pleasure in them”.
  • Jesus replied, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
  • The love of the Lord is never exhausted,
nor do his deeds of mercy ever come to an end.
    They are renewed every morning;
    his faithfulness never ceases.
  • Who among you is wise and understanding? Prove by your good life that your works are done with the humility that comes from wisdom.
  • The Lord will become king over the whole earth. When that day comes, he will be the only Lord, and his name will be the only name.

Behold, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with that person and that person with me.
