But I will sing of your strength; when morning dawns, I will proclaim your kindness. For you have been my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. | But as for me, I will sing of Your strength; Yes, I will joyfully sing of Your faithfulness in the morning, For You have been my refuge And a place of refuge on the day of my distress. |
Hence, I advise you to be guided by the Spirit, so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. | But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. |
For everything that is in the world— the concupiscence of the flesh, the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life— comes not from the Father but from the world. | For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. |
When you search for me, you will find me. When you seek me with all your heart. | And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. |
Blessed are those who observe his statutes and seek him with their whole heart. | Blessed are those who comply with His testimonies, And seek Him with all their heart. |
Take care, brethren, that none of you will ever have an evil and unbelieving heart that will cause you to forsake the living God. | Take care, brothers and sisters, that there will not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. |
When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud of heart and quickly forgot me. | As they had their pasture, they became satisfied, And as they became satisfied, their heart became proud; Therefore they forgot Me. |
A man’s ways may seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart. | Every person’s way is right in his own eyes, But the Lord examines the hearts. |
Place your hope in the Lord: be strong and courageous in your heart, and place your hope in the Lord. | Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord. |
Banish grief from your heart and ignore the sufferings of your body, for youth and the prime of life are fleeting. | So remove sorrow from your heart and keep pain away from your body, because childhood and the prime of life are fleeting. |
In my distress I called out to the Lord; he answered by setting me free. | From my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and put me in an open space. |
The entire community of believers was united in heart and soul. No one claimed any of his possessions as his own, for everything was held in common. | And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them. |
Abba, Father, for you all things are possible. Take this cup from me. Yet not my will but yours be done. | Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will. |
If you would seriously consider my reproof, I would pour out my thoughts to you and make my precepts known to you. | Turn to my rebuke, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. |
He continued, “Then put away the foreign gods from among you. Bend your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.” | Now then, do away with the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel. |
For one believes in the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. | For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. |
The heart is more deceitful than any other thing, and it is also perverse. Who can uncover its secrets? I, the Lord, search the heart and probe the mind to reward all according to their conduct and as their deeds deserve. | The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, To give to each person according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds. |
Even though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, even though the olive crop will fail and the orchards will yield no food, even though the flock is cut off from the fold and there is no herd in the stalls, I will continue to rejoice in the Lord, and exult in the God of my salvation. | Even if the fig tree does not blossom, And there is no fruit on the vines, If the yield of the olive fails, And the fields produce no food, Even if the flock disappears from the fold, And there are no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will triumph in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. |
For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Spirit, and those of the Spirit are opposed to the flesh. They are in conflict with one another, so that you cannot do what you want. | For the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, in order to keep you from doing whatever you want. |
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will ever snatch them from my hand. My Father who has given them to me is greater than all, and no one can snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one. | And I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one. |

But he answered me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” Hence, I will boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell within me. | And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. |
The Lord God then formed a woman out of the rib that he had taken from the man. He brought her before the man. The man said, “This one is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman because she was taken from man.” This is why a man leaves his father and his mother and joins with a wife, and the two become one flesh. | And the Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “At last this is bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called ‘woman,’ Because she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. |
