- Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! - Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”
- The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
- I made a covenant with my eyes
not to look with lust at a young woman. - Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’
- For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
- I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.
- And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.
- Worry weighs a person down;
an encouraging word cheers a person up. - Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires. - Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm.
For love is as strong as death,
its jealousy as enduring as the grave.
Love flashes like fire,
the brightest kind of flame. - If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
- Have mercy on me, O God,
because of your unfailing love.
Because of your great compassion,
blot out the stain of my sins.
Wash me clean from my guilt.
Purify me from my sin. - Joyful are those who obey his laws
and search for him with all their hearts. - But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.
- As I learn your righteous regulations,
I will thank you by living as I should! - I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
- Wait patiently for the Lord.
