- Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
No one can measure his greatness. - Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
- God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
- The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him. - This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
- But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.
- Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.
- Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. - Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord,
whose people he has chosen as his inheritance. - Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”
- And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
- Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline. - All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.
- God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. - So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
- God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. - Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!
And whatever else you do, develop good judgment. - He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
- We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.
- I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth.
- This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
- For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.
- My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
- And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
Christ is also the head of the church,
which is his body.
He is the beginning,
supreme over all who rise from the dead.
So he is first in everything. When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. The Lord keeps you from all harm
and watches over your life.
The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever.Next verse! With image
