- Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”
- This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
- For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,
‘The stone that you builders rejected
has now become the cornerstone.’ - God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. - Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce. - But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.
- For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.
- Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
- He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
- This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
- We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.
- For we live by believing and not by seeing.
- Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.
- Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.
- But God is my helper.
The Lord keeps me alive! - Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.
All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.
Praise him forever! - The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.
- So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.
- For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.
- After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.”
- And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.
- “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
- Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! - For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.
- You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.
