Fathers (2/4)

  • So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.
  • The father of godly children has cause for joy.
What a pleasure to have children who are wise.
  • Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.
  • Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
  • But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
  • You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.
  • If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!
  • Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.
  • Never abandon a friend—
    either yours or your father’s.
When disaster strikes, you won’t have to ask your brother for assistance.
It’s better to go to a neighbor than to a brother who lives far away.
  • I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me.
  • Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
  • You must not exploit a widow or an orphan. If you exploit them in any way and they cry out to me, then I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will blaze against you, and I will kill you with the sword. Then your wives will be widows and your children fatherless.
  • But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.
  • Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?
  • As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”
  • And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
  • Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
  • Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.
  • Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.”
  • Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
  • Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.
  • All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
  • I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me.
  • For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.
  • But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.

And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.
