This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. | For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. |
So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. | There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his. |
I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. | I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one. |
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf. | But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me who is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times. |
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. | But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. |
Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. | Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving kindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity. Cleanse me from my sin. |
I never shrank back from telling you what you needed to hear, either publicly or in your homes. | How I didn’t shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house. |
I said to the Lord, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” | My soul, you have said to Yahweh, “You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing.” |
Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. | Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. |
May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. | Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless. | Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh; for youth and the dawn of life are vanity. |
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. | My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him. |
And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” | Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” |
But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. | Yahweh’s face is against those who do evil, to cut off their memory from the earth. |
From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” | From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” |
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. | If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. |
So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. | Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father. |
But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. | But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. |
If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! | If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him and have seen him. |
Yes, I came from the Father into the world, and now I will leave the world and return to the Father. | I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father. |
But Lord, you remain the same forever! Your throne continues from generation to generation. | You, Yahweh, remain forever. Your throne is from generation to generation. |
The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. | Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. |
And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. | She shall give birth to a son. You shall name him Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins. |
You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. | Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you. |
For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. | You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah. |
