- Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding. - Get wisdom! Get understanding!
Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. - How much better to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. - And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
- Do not overwork to be rich;
Because of your own understanding, cease! - The ransom of a man’s life is his riches,
But the poor does not hear rebuke. - The wicked man does deceptive work,
But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. - But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
- So teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom. - Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
And the man who gains understanding. - He who gets wisdom loves his own soul;
He who keeps understanding will find good. - And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
- The generous soul will be made rich,
And he who waters will also be watered himself. - Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things.
- You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
- Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
- Direct my steps by Your word,
And let no iniquity have dominion over me. - Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.
- Do not turn to the right or the left;
Remove your foot from evil. - But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
- Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
- But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
- Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy. - A fool’s lips enter into contention,
And his mouth calls for blows. - He who walks with wise men will be wise,
But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil.Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
