Gift of life (2/4)

  • For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
  • For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.
  • For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
  • Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
  • Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
  • For those who find me find life
and receive favor from the Lord.
  • The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.
  • For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
  • Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.
  • Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
  • By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
  • Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
  • Whoever pursues righteousness and love
    finds life, prosperity and honor.
  • The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
  • This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot.
  • I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
  • A person’s riches may ransom their life,
but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes.
  • Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
  • For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
  • The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
  • Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.
  • Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
  • Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,
but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.

But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
