Giveth (2/4)

  • If you, then, despite your evil nature, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
  • Come to me, all you who are weary and overburdened, and I will give you rest.
  • Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;
proclaim his deeds among the peoples.
  • Therefore, you will be given this sign
    by the Lord himself:
The virgin will be with child,
and she will give birth to a son,
and she will name him Immanuel.
  • But whoever drinks the water that I will give him
    will never be thirsty.
The water that I will give him
will become a spring of water within him
    welling up to eternal life.
  • He gives a home to those who are forsaken
and leads out prisoners amid chants of exultation,
while rebels are forced to live in an arid land.
  • And I will ask the Father,
and he will give you another Advocate
    to be with you forever.
  • Never will I forget your commands,
for through them you have given me life.
  • I will give thanks to you among the peoples, O Lord;
I will sing your praises among the nations.
  • Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. The measure that you use for others will be used to measure you.
  • Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to your name give glory
because of your kindness and faithfulness.
  • For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but rather a spirit of power and of love and of wisdom.
  • She will give birth to a son, and you shall name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
  • For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • Whatever moves and has life will be used for your food. I give you all these things, just as I have already given you every green plant. Only do not eat flesh along with its life, that is, with its blood.
  • I give you a new commandment:
    love one another.
Just as I have loved you,
so you should also love one another.
  • If you are angry, do not sin. Do not let the sun set on your anger, and do not give the devil an opening.
  • Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not demand the return of what is yours from the one who has taken it.
  • Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time.
  • For a child has been born to us,
a son has been given to us.
    Upon his shoulders dominion rests,
and this is the name he has been given:
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
  • May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
  • For it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord,
every knee shall bow before me,
and every tongue shall give praise to God.”
  • Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
  • I give them eternal life,
    and they will never perish.
No one will ever snatch them from my hand.
My Father who has given them to me
    is greater than all,
and no one can snatch them
    out of the Father’s hand.
I and the Father are one.
  • And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.

In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served but rather to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
