| For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. | You need to be steadfast if you want to do the will of God and receive what he has promised. |

| Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. | Pleasing words are like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and affording health to the body. |
| But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. | But whoever endures to the end will be saved. |
| But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? | If anyone is rich in worldly possessions and sees a brother in need but refuses to open his heart, how can the love of God abide in him? |
| O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee. | I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” |
| And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. | Then he said to them, “Go forth into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to all creation.” |
| And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. | And every tongue should proclaim to the glory of God the Father: Jesus Christ is Lord. |
| Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. | Grant justice to the weak and the orphan; defend the rights of the lowly and the poor. |
| To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. | To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. |
| I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. | I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and returning to the Father. |
| The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. | The wealthy man lords it over the poor, and the borrower becomes the slave of the lender. |
