Guide your heart (3/4)

  • Rend your hearts and not your garments,
    and turn back to the Lord, your God.
    For he is gracious and merciful,
    slow to anger, rich in kindness,
    and always prepared to relent from punishing.
  • A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
  • Blessed are the pure of heart, for they will see God.
  • Go forth, then. Eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for God long ago approved what you do.
  • So today acknowledge it and take it to heart that the Lord is God in the heavens above and on the earth below. There is no other.
  • Rejoice with all your heart, O daughter Zion.
    Shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem.
    See, your king is coming to you,
    triumphant and victorious,
    humble and riding on a donkey,
    on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
  • The upright are guarded by their integrity;
    the treacherous are destroyed by their own duplicity.
  • Let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart
    find favor in your sight,
    O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
  • Peace I leave with you,
    my peace I give to you.
    Not as the world gives
    do I give it to you.
    Do not let your hearts be troubled;
    be not afraid.
  • Create in me a clean heart, O God,
    and renew a resolute spirit within me.
  • Each person should give as much as he has decided in his heart, not with reluctance or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
  • Just as water reflects one’s face,
    so does one human heart reflect another.
  • Hope deferred sickens the heart,
    but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
  • As for me, I trust in your kindness;
    my heart rejoices in your salvation.
    I will sing to the Lord
    because he has been good to me.
  • A cheerful heart is excellent medicine,
    but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
  • The Lord is my strength and my shield;
    my heart places its trust in him.
    He has helped me, and I exult;
    then with my song I praise him.
  • Anxiety in the human heart weighs it down,
    but a kind word makes it glad.
  • The future bodes well for him
    who is generous in helping those in need
    and who conducts his affairs with justice.
  • A man’s ways may seem right to him,
    but the Lord weighs the heart.
  • Blessed are those who observe his statutes
    and seek him with their whole heart.
  • Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be accomplished for him.
  • Listen, my son, and take my words to heart,
    and the years of your life will be multiplied.
  • My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
    a contrite and humble heart, O God,
    you will not spurn.
  • Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
  • As we proceed in the path of your judgments,
    we wait for you, O Lord;
    your name and your renown
    are all that our heart desires.

They will never again experience hunger or thirst,
nor will the sun or any scorching heat cause them discomfort.
For the Lamb who is at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd.
He will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
