- Examine me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and understand my thoughts.
See if I follow an evil way,
and guide me on the way to eternity. - I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you. I will remove from your body a heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh in its place.
- I will instruct you
and guide you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you
and keep my eyes upon you. - Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son.
- Take heed to follow the commandments and the laws that Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave you: to love the Lord, your God, and to walk in his ways and to observe his commandments, holding fast to him and serving him with all your heart and all your soul.
- May he give you your heart’s desire
and grant you success in all your plans. - You shall not hate your brother in your heart, nor shall you rebuke your brother in any way, lest you bear sin because of him. You shall not seek vengeance nor bear a grudge against the children of your people. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
- Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord
rather than relying on your own intelligence.
In everything you do, acknowledge him,
and he will see that your paths are straight. - Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You place your trust in God.
Trust also in me. - To do your will, O God, is my delight;
your law is in my heart. - And so now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your God, require of you but to fear the Lord, your God, to walk in all of his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and to observe the commandments and the statutes that I am giving you today for your own good.
- You shall keep these things that I command you today in your heart. Teach them to your children. You shall talk of them when you are sitting in your home, and when you are walking along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
- I further pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know the hope to which he has called you, how rich and glorious is his inheritance in the saints.
- And ‘to love him with all your heart, and with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself,’ is worth more than any burnt offerings and sacrifices.
- Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”
- I treasure your word in my heart
for fear that I may sin against you. - Dispose my heart to follow your statutes
and to flee selfish gain. - Even should my heart and my flesh fail,
God is the rock of my heart
and my portion forever. - Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render fair judgments, and show kindness and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor. Do not plot evil in your heart against one another.
- I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your precepts. - Your statutes are my everlasting heritage;
they are the very joy of my heart. - I will praise you in sincerity of heart
as I ponder your righteous judgments. - Teach me your ways, O Lord,
so that I may walk in your truth;
let me worship your name
with an undivided heart. - For one believes in the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
- I will offer praise to you, O Lord,
with my whole heart;
I will recount all your wondrous deeds.
