- Joyful are those who obey his laws
and search for him with all their hearts. - He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him. - As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”
- For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.
- I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!” - Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! - The name of the Lord is a strong fortress;
the godly run to him and are safe. - So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.
- I am counting on the Lord;
yes, I am counting on him.
I have put my hope in his word. - But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love. - And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
- Every word of God proves true.
He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. - So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him.
- God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
- The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him. - The Lord is good,
a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him. - The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate to those who fear him. - I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
- Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross. - Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth. - For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
- The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just
than when we offer him sacrifices. - And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.
- Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
- God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
