A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. | Giving a gift can open doors; it gives access to important people! |
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near. | Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. |
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? | What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? |
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. | He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name. |
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. | In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. |
Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. | I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. |
