| He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. | For he guards the paths of justice and keeps watch over the way of his faithful ones. |
| But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. | And yet he is aware of everywhere I go; if he were to test me, I would emerge like pure gold. | The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. | The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; those who are guided by it will grow in understanding. His praise will last forever. |
| For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. | For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the sake of the gospel will save it. |

| For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? | What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life? |
| A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. | A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart. |
| Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them. | The Lord God made clothing for the man and woman out of animal skins and he clothed them. |
| Who will render to every man according to his deeds. | For God will repay everyone in accordance with what his deeds deserve. |
| Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. | Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. |
| Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. | Alleluia. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his precepts. |
| The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. | I further pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know the hope to which he has called you, how rich and glorious is his inheritance in the saints. |

| According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. | His divine power has bestowed on us everything that is necessary for life and for devotion through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue. |
| A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. | A fool gives free rein to his anger, but a wise man bides his time and calms it. |
| But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. | And my God will fully supply all your needs out of the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. |
| Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? | Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? |
