- Beloved,
since God loved us so much,
we should love one another. - However, you, dear friends, must build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God as you await our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy, who will grant you eternal life.
- O Lord, all my longing is known to you,
and my sighs are not hidden from you. - I will not leave you orphans;

You reward each person
in accordance with his deeds. - Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly, as if you were doing it for the Lord and not for others, since you know that you will receive from the Lord an inheritance as your reward for you are serving the Lord Christ.
- When I realized that my foot was slipping,
your kindness, O Lord, raised me up. - The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will permit you to find him, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.
