Chinese (traditional)Bible Verses about 'Instead'
- Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.
- Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.
- But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
- It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave.
- Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.
- You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
- Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.
- For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
- Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
- But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
- No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.
- Because you are precious in my eyes,
and honored, and I love you,
I give men in return for you,
peoples in exchange for your life. - Let us test and examine our ways,
and return to the Lord! - Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
- The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
- But let justice roll down like waters,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. - Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
- Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
- But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
- For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
- Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones. - For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
- And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the Lord, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to whore after.
- But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
- So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
So that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.Next verse! With image
