Jesus knows your works (3/4) Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. For I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews. Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” And every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me.” For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
