- Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil. - But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven.

- I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.
- Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!
- A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
- Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves;
ensure justice for those being crushed. - And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
- In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
he saved me from all my troubles. - For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.

snatching them from the door of death. - Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich.
Be wise enough to know when to quit. - I lift my hands to you in prayer.
I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain. - Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.
- For I cried out to him for help,
praising him as I spoke. - Come and listen to my counsel.
I’ll share my heart with you
and make you wise. - A person without self-control
is like a city with broken-down walls. - You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
- After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.”
- Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.
- So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
