Out of the depths I have cried to You, Lord. Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the sound of my pleadings. | Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord; O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cries of supplication. |
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light. | Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. |
But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God. | However, whoever lives by the truth comes to the light so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been done in God. |
The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom should I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom should I dread? | The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom should I be afraid? |
This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. | This is the message that we have heard from him and that we declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness at all in him. |
With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. | I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your precepts. |
Be exalted above the heavens, God; May Your glory be above all the earth. | Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory shine over all the earth. |
But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your charitable giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. | But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Your almsgiving must be done in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you. |
Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any wrongdoing have power over me. | Guide my steps in accord with your word and never let evil triumph over me. |
For so the Lord has commanded us, ‘I have appointed You as a light to the Gentiles, That You may bring salvation to the end of the earth.’ | For so has the Lord commanded us to do, saying, ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles so that you may bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ |
For our momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison. | Our temporary light afflictions are preparing for us an incomparable weight of eternal glory. |
Be exalted above the heavens, God, And may Your glory be above all the earth. | Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory shine over all the earth. |
In You, Lord, I have taken refuge; Let me never be put to shame; In Your righteousness rescue me. | In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me. |
Now no one lights a lamp and covers it over with a container, or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in may see the light. | No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a pot or places it under a bed. Rather he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. |
Do not be mismatched with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness share together, or what does light have in common with darkness? | Do not associate with unbelievers. For what basis can there be for a partnership between righteousness and lawlessness? What do light and darkness have in common? |
Let the peace of Christ, to which you were indeed called in one body, rule in your hearts; and be thankful. | And let the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it was for this that you were called together in one body. Always be thankful. |
Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. | If you are angry, do not sin. Do not let the sun set on your anger, and do not give the devil an opening. |
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. | Do not worry about anything, but present your needs to God in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. Then the peace of God, which is beyond all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. |
