| But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant. | Not so with you. | And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. | Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. |
| Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. | My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. |

| But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. | All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. |
| Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) | Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. |
| Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. | Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. |
| Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. | “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. |
| Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. | Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience. |

| And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. | Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” |
| Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. | When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone. |

| As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. | Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. |
| Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. | Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. |
| But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. | But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. |
