| The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats. | A wealthy man pays a ransom to save his life; a poor man never has to worry about such threats. |
| A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it. | The prudent man perceives danger and seeks shelter, while the simple continue forward and pay the penalty. |
| Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and doesn’t sin. | There is no one on earth who is so righteous that he does nothing but good and never sins. |
| Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. | Blessed is the man whom God reproves. Therefore, do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. |

| It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment. | The future bodes well for him who is generous in helping those in need and who conducts his affairs with justice. |

| Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint. | Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless is the man devoid of self-control. |
| Yahweh God made garments of animal skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them. | The Lord God made clothing for the man and woman out of animal skins and he clothed them. |
