Man (4/4)

The father of the righteous has great joy. Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him.The father of a good man will rejoice; he who begets a wise son will delight in him.
A man’s steps are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way.The Lord makes a man’s steps secure when he approves of his conduct.
A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Some friends can lead us to ruin, but a true friend is closer than a brother.
With the merciful you will show yourself merciful. With the perfect man, you will show yourself perfect. To the loyal, you show yourself to be loyal; to the blameless, you show yourself to be blameless.
Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.Wait quietly for the Lord and be patient until he comes. Do not fret over the man who prospers because of his evil schemes.
He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?The Lord has told you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? Only this: to do what is right, to show mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator.Do not lie to one another, since you have stripped off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self that is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.It is rash to pledge a sacred gift, or to make a vow and then have second thoughts.
So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger.
He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts, covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the man.”Then he went on, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For from within, from the human heart, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from within, and they defile a person.”
For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit. No prophecy ever came from human initiative. Rather, when people spoke as messengers of God, they did so under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the righteous will be delivered through knowledge. With his mouth the godless man seeks to ruin his neighbor, but knowledge enables the righteous to be delivered.
Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness, for you reward every man according to his work. And so does kindness, O Lord. You reward each person in accordance with his deeds.
A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps.A man may plan his own course, but the Lord makes his steps secure.
“They shall be mine,” says Yahweh of Armies, “my own possession in the day that I make. I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.”They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, my own special possession on the day when I act, and I will have compassion on them as a father has compassion on the son who serves him.
Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways. For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright.Do not envy a violent man or choose to emulate any of his ways. For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright.
A fool shows his annoyance the same day, but one who overlooks an insult is prudent.A fool is quick to show his anger, but a prudent man ignores an insult.
If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. And where a single man can be overcome, two together will be able to resist. A cord with three strands is not easily broken.

Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. One who finds a wife finds happiness and receives favor from the Lord.
For we all stumble in many things. Anyone who doesn’t stumble in word is a perfect person, able to bridle the whole body also. For all of us fall short in many ways. Anyone who never makes a mistake in speech has reached perfection and is able to control every part of his body.
Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”Jesus looked at them and said, “For men it is impossible, but not for God. For God all things are possible.”
The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but a fool is swallowed by his own lips. The words of a wise man win favor, but a fool’s tongue is his undoing.
Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. While experiencing temptation, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord.Seek peace with everyone, as well as the holiness without which no one will ever see the Lord.
