Bible Verses about 'Mere'

In all toil there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
I, I am he who comforts you; why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die, a human being who fades like grass?I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.
With the Lord on my side I do not fear. What can mortals do to me?The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I am not afraid; what can flesh do to me?In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
What are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish.Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Do not adorn yourselves outwardly by braiding your hair, and by wearing gold ornaments or fine clothing; rather, let your adornment be the inner self with the lasting beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God's sight.Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
