Bible Verses about 'Mere'

In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass.I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
And rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Bible verse of the day

This God—his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord proves true;
he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
