Bible Verses about 'Mere'

Diligent labor always yields profit, but idle conversation only leads to poverty. In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
I, I alone, am the one who comforts you. Why then do you fear mortal men who must die, human beings who must perish like grass?I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.
With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me?The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
In God, whose word I praise, in God I place my trust and know no fear; what can people do to me?In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
Therefore, we can say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Be doers of the word and not just hearers who only deceive themselves. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
For they said to you, “In the final age there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly passions.” It is these people who create divisions, who follow their natural instincts and do not possess the Spirit. How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
For you are aware that you were ransomed from your futile way of life inherited from your ancestors not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Dear children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
The heavens were made by the word of the Lord, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
When you pray do not go on babbling endlessly as the pagans do, for they believe that they are more likely to be heard because of their many words. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in kindness. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways and merciful in everything he does. The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
May mercy, peace, and love be granted you in abundance.Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
Do not seek to adorn yourself externally—by the braiding of your hair and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothing. Rather, let your adornment be of your inner self, the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his mercy endures forever.O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
Return, rebel Israel, says the Lord. I will not look upon you in anger. For I am merciful, says the Lord; my wrath will not continue forever.Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever.
Yet even so, because of your great compassion, you did not completely destroy them, nor did you forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.
But for that very reason I was treated mercifully, so that in me Jesus Christ might exhibit his inexhaustible patience, making me an example for those who would come to believe in him for eternal life.Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
O Lord, do not withhold your mercy from me; may your kindness and your truth keep me safe forever.Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
The tax collector, however, stood some distance away and would not even raise his eyes to heaven. Rather, he kept beating his breast as he said, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner.’And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
Rend your hearts and not your garments, and turn back to the Lord, your God. For he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, rich in kindness, and always prepared to relent from punishing. And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
Therefore, brethren, I implore you by the mercies of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God—a spiritual act of worship.I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

No one who conceals his transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and renounces them will obtain mercy. He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
