Bible Verses about 'Mere'

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass.I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.
In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.
