Bible Verses about 'Mortals'
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? | With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me? |
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. | It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to place your trust in mortals. |
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? | What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? |
In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. | In God, whose word I praise, in God I place my trust and know no fear; what can people do to me? |
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. | He replied, “What is impossible for men is possible for God.” |
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. | Therefore, we can say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?” |
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. | Jesus looked at them and said, “For men this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” |
I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass. | I, I alone, am the one who comforts you. Why then do you fear mortal men who must die, human beings who must perish like grass? |
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. | Jesus looked at them and said, “For men it is impossible, but not for God. For God all things are possible.” |
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. | There is no salvation in anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to men by which we can be saved. |
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. | If in speaking I use human tongues and angelic as well, but do not have love, I am nothing more than a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. |
In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him. | When things are going well, be grateful for your blessings, and in times of adversity consider this: God has made both of them, so that we cannot predict with confidence what the future holds. |
But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. | But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or how tall he stands, for the Lord has rejected him. He does not see the way that men see, for men look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” |
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. | And I heard a loud voice proclaim from the throne: “Behold, God’s dwelling is with mankind; he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and he will be their God, God-with-them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will no longer be death. Neither will there be any mourning or crying or pain, for the old order has passed away.” |
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. | If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then the one who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you. |
