| And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! | Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. |
| Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. | Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! |
| Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. | Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so. |
| Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. | Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. |
| The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. | The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise. |
