No one can measure the depths of his understanding. | Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? The everlasting God, Yahweh, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t faint. He isn’t weary. His understanding is unsearchable. |
| The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. | The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance. |

| And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! | Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. |
| Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. | Don’t weary yourself to be rich. In your wisdom, show restraint. |
| Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. | Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. |
| Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. | Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don’t curse. |
| The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. | The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. O God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart. |
