For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and he won’t do it? Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good?
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life.
Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.Not to us, Yahweh, not to us, but to your name give glory, for your loving kindness, and for your truth’s sake.
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me isn’t worthy of me.
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.Don’t let him who eats despise him who doesn’t eat. Don’t let him who doesn’t eat judge him who eats, for God has accepted him.
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only born Son of God.
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.Don’t say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not ask wisely about this.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up.
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.You shall not misuse the name of Yahweh your God; for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.For sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace.
I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.I am inquired of by those who didn’t ask. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.But you go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
