Chinese (traditional)Bible Verses about 'Ought'
- Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
- If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
- By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
- Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
- So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.
- Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
- Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
- For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
- Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.”
The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him. - If a person sins, and commits any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord, though he does not know it, yet he is guilty and shall bear his iniquity.
- We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other.
- Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
- And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
- You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
- Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away.
- Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.
- “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. - Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting.
- For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts. - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
- Commit your works to the Lord,
And your thoughts will be established. - I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears. - With my whole heart I have sought You;
Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! - But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
- Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
