- For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.
- The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
- For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
- It is better to trust in the Lord
than to put confidence in man. - In God I will praise his word,
in God I have put my trust;
I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. - Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
- And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
- For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
- A man's gift maketh room for him,
and bringeth him before great men. - Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
- Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
- For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.
- Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
- Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
- As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
- Who is a God like unto thee,
that pardoneth iniquity,
and passeth by the transgression
of the remnant of his heritage?
he retaineth not his anger for ever,
because he delighteth in mercy. - And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
- For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
- Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
- The integrity of the upright shall guide them:
but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. - Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.
- If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
- Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell together in unity! - Let not mercy and truth forsake thee:
bind them about thy neck;
write them upon the table of thine heart:
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding
in the sight of God and man. - See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Lying lips are abomination to the Lord:
but they that deal truly are his delight.Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
