- Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not;

for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off. - A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself;
but the simple pass on, and are punished. - Iron sharpeneth iron;
so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. - As in water face answereth to face,
so the heart of man to man. - He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law,
even his prayer shall be abomination. - He that covereth his sins shall not prosper:
but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. - A fool uttereth all his mind:
but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. - A man's pride shall bring him low:
but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. - The fear of man bringeth a snare:
but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. - Every word of God is pure:
he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. - Remove far from me vanity and lies:
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with food convenient for me.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
