- The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him. - For the Lord loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.
Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed;
the offspring of the wicked will perish. - All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you. - Hear my prayer, Lord,
listen to my cry for help;
do not be deaf to my weeping.
I dwell with you as a foreigner,
a stranger, as all my ancestors were. - I desire to do your will, my God;
your law is within my heart. - Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord;
may your love and faithfulness always protect me. - As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God. - My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God? - Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me. - By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life. - Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God. - It was not by their sword that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was your right hand, your arm,
and the light of your face, for you loved them. - God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. - He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.” - Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin. - Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me. - My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
you, God, will not despise. - Surely God is my help;
the Lord is the one who sustains me. - Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken. - When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
- In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? - Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth. - For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies. - But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble. - Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.Next verse!With image
