What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken. Amos 5:14	Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. holiness reward seeking
It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, And afterward to reconsider his vows. Proverbs 20:25	It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows. holiness righteousness

Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
