Now Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent over double, and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.” And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she stood up straight again, and began glorifying God. But the synagogue leader, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, “There are six days during which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites, does each of you on the Sabbath not untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it away to water it? And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this restraint on the Sabbath day?” And as He said this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him. | He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day. Doesn’t each one of you free his ox or his donkey from the stall on the Sabbath and lead him away to water? Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan had bound eighteen long years, be freed from this bondage on the Sabbath day?” As he said these things, all his adversaries were disappointed; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. |
Take care that no one deceives himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. | Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool that he may become wise. |

Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he? | Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us. |
What then if you see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before? | Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? |
Can a woman forget her nursing child And have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. | Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. | So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. |
And the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no human may boast before God. | God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that don’t exist, that he might bring to nothing the things that exist, that no flesh should boast before God. |
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age. | For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age. |

To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, loving, compassionate, and humble. | Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous. |
Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. | Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. |
