| My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice! | My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad, even mine. |
| God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. | By this God’s love was revealed in us, that God has sent his only born Son into the world that we might live through him. |

| What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? | What is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him? |
| But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval. | Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him. |

| Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good. | You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you. |
| My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. | I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. | No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. | No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him. |
