- Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth! - For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
- The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters. - For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
- Fine speech is not becoming to a fool;
still less is false speech to a prince. - For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
- He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
- The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.
- He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.
- Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices! - For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
- What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
- So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.
- Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
- Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.
- God shall bless us;
let all the ends of the earth fear him! - If anyone sins, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, though he did not know it, then realizes his guilt, he shall bear his iniquity.
- Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
- If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
- Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call upon him while he is near. - Even to your old age I am he,
and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save. - I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living! - Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
- For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
- Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
