But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. | On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” |

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. | And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. |

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. | God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. |
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. | Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. |
The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous. | The Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous. |
Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. | But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen— that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles. |
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. | The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. |
But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. | He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” |
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. | The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. |
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. | He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. |
I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name. | I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’ |
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. | As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. |
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. | Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. |
Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight. | The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. |
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. | Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. |
And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. | And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. |
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. | We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him. |
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. | Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. |
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. | Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. |
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. | The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. |
Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. | Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord. |
