- While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
- Dearly beloved, never seek revenge. Leave that to the time of retribution. For it is written, “Vengeance is mine, says the Lord. I will repay.”
- For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disharmony and every type of wickedness.
- Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace when we are in need of help.
- Brethren, I exhort you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to be in full agreement with one another and not permit any divisions to arise among you. Be perfectly united in mind and purpose.
- And God is able to enrich you with an abundance of every grace, so that, with all of your needs provided for, you may be able to produce a surplus of good works.
- I consider that the sufferings we presently endure are not worth comparing with the glory to be revealed in us.
- And God said, “Behold, I give you every plant that produces seeds upon the earth and every tree that has fruit with its seed inside of it: these shall be your food.”
- Every word of God has proved to be true;
he is a shield to those who trust in him. - If someone says, “I love God,”
but at the same time hates his brother,
he is a liar.
For whoever does not love the brother
whom he has seen
cannot love God whom he has not seen. - The Lord will protect you against all evil;
he will watch over your life.
The Lord will watch over your coming and your going
both now and forevermore. - Every good act of giving and every perfect gift are from above, coming down from the Father of all light. With him there is no alteration or shadow caused by change.
- For they said to you, “In the final age there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly passions.” It is these people who create divisions, who follow their natural instincts and do not possess the Spirit.
- I am the true vine,
and my Father is the vinegrower.
He removes every branch
that does not bear fruit,
and every branch that does
he prunes to make it bear even more. - A fool gives free rein to his anger,
but a wise man bides his time and calms it. - Then you will understand equity and justice
as well as righteousness—every good path. - No one has ever seen God.
It is the only Son, God,
who is at the Father’s side,
who has made him known. - Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of your opportunity. Let your speech always be gracious and seasoned with wisdom, so that you will know how to respond properly to all.
- And every tongue should proclaim
to the glory of God the Father:
Jesus Christ is Lord. - Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, where he was tempted by the devil. During that time he ate nothing, and at the end of it he was famished.
- Test everything, and hold fast to what is good. Avoid every form of evil.
- It is honorable to avoid strife,
but every fool is quarrelsome. - Therefore, I tell you that every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
- Every word you utter is true,
and all your righteous judgments are everlasting. - A thief comes only
to steal and kill and destroy.
I have come
that they may have life,
and have it in abundance.
Therefore, by a single offering he has made perfect forever those who are being sanctified. For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger.Next verse! With image
