- Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
- Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
- But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
- And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
- There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
- To do justice and judgment
is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. - Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.
- Pleasant words are as an honeycomb,
sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. - Turn not to the right hand nor to the left:
remove thy foot from evil. - The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me;
because the Lord hath anointed me
to preach good tidings unto the meek;
he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. - Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
- He giveth power to the faint;
and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. - For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
- And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
- It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy,
and after vows to make enquiry. - He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good;
and what doth the Lord require of thee,
but to do justly, and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with thy God? - Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
- Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy:
for thou renderest to every man
according to his work. - And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
- But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
- Withhold not good from them to whom it is due,
when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. - For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
- The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.
- The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him,
to all that call upon him in truth. - Labour not to be rich:
cease from thine own wisdom.
Is not this the fast that I have chosen?
to loose the bands of wickedness,
to undo the heavy burdens,
and to let the oppressed go free,
and that ye break every yoke?For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
