- And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
- So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
- Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them.
- The Lord’s home reaches up to the heavens,
while its foundation is on the earth.
He draws up water from the oceans
and pours it down as rain on the land.
The Lord is his name! - For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
- Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do.
- The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
- But when you had eaten and were satisfied,
you became proud and forgot me. - And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.
- And forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us. - Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
- Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
- Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
- But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations.
- But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!
- Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
- But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!
- Let my teaching fall on you like rain;
let my speech settle like dew.
Let my words fall like rain on tender grass,
like gentle showers on young plants. - Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
- This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.
- For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
- But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
- For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
- I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
- So we fasted and earnestly prayed that our God would take care of us, and he heard our prayer.
