- What then if you see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before?
- What is man that You think of him,
And a son of man that You are concerned about him? - For if the willingness is present, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.
- Do not be mismatched with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness share together, or what does light have in common with darkness?
- Do not worry about your life, as to what you are to eat; nor for your body, as to what you are to wear. For life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
- For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
- What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
- What then? Are we to sin because we are not under the Law but under grace? Far from it!
- In God, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? - So that we confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid.
What will man do to me?” - I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.
- It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And the light dwells with Him. - And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
- And who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good?
- Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.
- But if we hope for what we do not see, through perseverance we wait eagerly for it.
- But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing His garments among themselves.
- I am coming quickly; hold firmly to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
- As for you, see that what you heard from the beginning remains in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.
- Now go and learn what this means: ‘I desire compassion, rather than sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
- When good things increase, those who consume them increase. So what is the advantage to their owners except to look at them?
- But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your charitable giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
- What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? Far from it! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?
- What is desirable in a person is his kindness,
And it is better to be a poor person than a liar. - What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? Far from it! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
- And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
- And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
- Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.
- To You, God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise,
For You have given me wisdom and power;
Even now You have made known to me what we requested of You,
For You have made known to us the king’s matter. - Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.
- For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
- Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
- Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker—
A piece of pottery among the other earthenware pottery pieces!
Will the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you doing?’
Or the thing you are making say, ‘He has no hands’? - Pay to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor.
- And when they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you at that time; for you are not the ones speaking, but it is the Holy Spirit.
- When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow!
- For this is what the Lord says to the house of Israel:
“Seek Me so that you may live.” - While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
- But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”
- See how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called children of God; and in fact we are. For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know Him.
- Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope set on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
- But examine everything; hold firmly to that which is good, abstain from every form of evil.
- To whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
