Bible Verses about 'What'
- Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.
- No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God. - The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me? - And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?
- “Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
- Then what will you think if you see the Son of Man ascend to heaven again?
- What are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them? - Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.
- That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?
- And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
- The lips of the godly speak helpful words,
but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words. - I praise God for what he has promised.
I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
What can mere mortals do to me? - What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
- So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.
- That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.
- Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?
- So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?” - He reveals deep and mysterious things
and knows what lies hidden in darkness,
though he is surrounded by light. - Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!
- I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
- Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
- And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!
- I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.
- He replied, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.”
- The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!
- I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors,
for you have given me wisdom and strength.
You have told me what we asked of you
and revealed to us what the king demanded. - So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father.
- But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.
- That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.” - Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good?
- Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
- And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.
- Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.”
- But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil.
- But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
- But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
- Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
- See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
- Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.
- So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
- What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator.
Does a clay pot argue with its maker?
Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying,
‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’
Does the pot exclaim,
‘How clumsy can you be?’ - Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops for all to hear!
- But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.
- Loyalty makes a person attractive.
It is better to be poor than dishonest. - Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
- You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am.
- As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching.
- But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!
- But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
