- What is desired in a man is steadfast love,
and a poor man is better than a liar. - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
- In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me? - But test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.
- So we can confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?” - Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward.
- He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what is in the darkness,
and the light dwells with him. - What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
- Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done.
- And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
- When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow.
- And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
- For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
- Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
- Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.
- But I with the voice of thanksgiving
will sacrifice to you;
what I have vowed I will pay.
Salvation belongs to the Lord! - When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes?
- Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.
- But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.
- What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
- And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.
- What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
- Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
- Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
