- I know how to live with little, and I know how to live with plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.

- Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
- But you, O Lord, are a shield to protect me;
you are my glory and the one who raises my head high. - What right do you have to pass judgment on someone else’s servant? The master will determine whether that servant will stand or fall. But the servant will be upheld, for the Lord has the power to enable him to stand.
- And yet he is aware of everywhere I go;
if he were to test me, I would emerge like pure gold.
My footsteps have not strayed from the path he established;
I have followed his way and never turned aside. - Indeed, the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
- Or can a man walk on red-hot coals
without scorching his feet? - Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in accord with the law of the Lord. - Do not swerve either to the right or to the left;
keep your foot far from evil. - If in speaking I use human tongues
and angelic as well,
but do not have love,
I am nothing more than a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. - Grandchildren are the crown of the aged,
and the glory of children is their parents. - Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vanity, but humbly regard others as better than yourselves.
